Fish Life Final Reflection

I got inspiration for this game from another game that we looked at, however I made my game much more complex. I planned to have an opening page and closing pages; for both wins and losses. I also planned to have the basis of the game be a fish avoiding sharks but going after other fish to eat. I think that I achieved my goal well.

To start off this project, I made the opening page which says the instructions. Then I moved on to the actual game part. After that I added the second level and the closing pages.

I had some problems with my game at first, but I eventually worked through them. One problem I had was that the fish were disappearing, but the score wasn't changing, even though I coded for it to. Eventually, I figured out that I had to add a "repeat forever" block and then it worked. I had some other problems too, but they were simple and I worked through them easily. I could tell that my problems were solved since every time I fixed something, I tested the game. I tested my game by playing it either on the project page or in the display box next to where I assembled the blocks.

My game did work as I intended it to and I am proud of how it came out. I am proud that I managed all of the scripts that I used and all of the sprites that I used well, even though there are a lot of them. I am mostly proud of the finished product and the fact that it runs smoothly with no problems because I never thought I could make my own game. Although there are some things I would fix if I had a more advanced program or a better knowledge of Scratch, I don't have any aspects of my game that I'm disappointed of.

Cat and Mouse Remix

I changed this so a shark is trying to eat a fish. Also, you are supposed to eat 15 fish in 45 seconds and see if you can do it.
You can visit it here.

Fish Chomp Remix

I changed this from fish eating other fish to a boy eating apples.
You can also see it here.

Scratch Game Idea

For my Scratch unit project, I am going to make a game using Scratch.
In this game, there will be a sprite following the cursor and trying to avoid certain things and catch other things. The theme will be underwater, and there will be a medium size fish that will avoid sharks and go after smaller fish or fish food. The scoring will go up by one every time that the big fish eats the small fish and maybe it will go up by three if it eats a rare colored fish. In this game, I'll use the timer variable to set each level for a certain amount of time so if the right score isn't reached in the right amount of time, you'll have to start over. You win each level when you get to a certain number of points, maybe around 10. I think that I'll have around 2 levels, but if I have time I'll make a third. The levels will increase in difficulty by making the goal score higher to reach and the fish harder to catch. I'm not sure what to call my game yet but I think it'll be fun.

Baseball Challenge Debug

I made the cat glide to each base and change direction by changing costumes. You can visit it here.

Debug 1.5

I separated the sound action from the speech bubble action and told it to start when the green flag is pressed. I also put the meow inside the "repeat 3 times". I also put a wait for 1 second inside the repeat too so all the meows could e heard. Since the meows would now take three seconds to be said, I changed the speech bubble so it would stay on the screen for 3 seconds instead of 2. You can visit it here.

Debug 1.4

I added a block saying "set rotation style: left-right" so the cat would not turn upside down. You can visit it here.

Debug 1.3

I added a 0.1 second wait in between each 90 degree rotation so it could be seen. You can visit it here.

Debug 1.2

I added the "go to" action after the green flag is clicked so the sprite would start on the left side. You can visit it here.

Debug 1.1

I fixed this by adding an event on Gobo's script saying that it would start when the green flag is clicked. The programming can be visited here.
